Wetland Fen & Bog Age Estimates for the Tanana Flats

The Tanana Flats (263,759 ha) are located south of Fairbanks, Alaska, within a lowland basin between the Alaska Range and the Tanana River. This product calculates estimates of lowland vegetation from the NLCD 2001, including young and old fen & bogs (500 x 500 m resolution) using estimates derived by Lara et al., 2016 and Jorgenson et al., 2001. Data are presented as % (divide values by 10,000, to get %).

Ofen = old fen, >100 years
Yfen = young fen, 100 years
Ybog = young bog, <100 years
Dec= deciduous forest
Con = coniferous forest
Shb= shurb scrub
DwSh= dwarf shrub
Water = waterbodies, includes lakes, rivers, ponds
Bar= barren, unvegetated saturated soil
Urb= urban, towns or roads

Datasets were synthesized using products and approaches developed by Homer et al., 2007 and Lara et al., 2016
